Trump Declares ‘Very Successful’ Strike on Iranian Nuclear Sites, Sparking Global Tensions

President Donald Trump on Sunday hailed a U.S. military operation targeting key Iranian nuclear facilities as a “very successful attack,” asserting that the strikes had decisively damaged or obliterated critical sites. The operation, part of broader efforts to dismantle Iran’s nuclear ambitions, has sharply escalated tensions across the Middle East and drawn swift international reactions.

Trump described the strikes as a necessary measure to neutralize what he has long characterized as a major threat to global security. U.S. officials indicated the targets included hardened nuclear infrastructure central to Tehran’s enrichment and weapons-related activities.

In Tehran, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned the strikes as “outrageous” and “criminal,” declaring that Iran would fully exercise its right to self-defense. Araghchi’s statement signaled Tehran’s intent to “reserve all options,” prompting concerns that retaliation could extend beyond immediate borders and involve proxy forces or direct responses.

The action received strong backing in Jerusalem and among Trump administration supporters in Washington, who viewed it as a historic step toward eliminating a long-standing nuclear threat. In contrast, European capitals responded with caution. Diplomats warned that the strikes risk eroding international norms and could trigger a dangerous cycle of instability.

At the United Nations, envoys engaged in delicate discussions aimed at preventing miscalculations that might spiral into a wider regional conflict. The episode underscores the fragile balance in the Middle East, where military action continues to intersect with complex diplomatic maneuvering.

As various actors assess their next moves, the international community remains on edge, closely monitoring developments amid growing calls for de-escalation and restraint.
