A bipartisan commission of New Mexico lawmakers has begun a comprehensive search of Jeffrey Epstein’s sprawling Zorro Ranch, spanning more than 7,600 acres south of Santa Fe. The long-awaited investigation aims to uncover evidence potentially missed or overlooked during earlier federal probes. State officials have criticized the FBI’s 2019 efforts as intentionally limited, prompting a full-scale examination—including possible excavation—to investigate tips about buried remains and address gaps in the original inquiry.
Simultaneously, the U.S. House Oversight Committee is scrutinizing the financial infrastructure that supported Epstein’s global network. Richard Kahn, a longtime accountant for Epstein’s estate, recently provided key testimony detailing complex transactions used to facilitate interactions with powerful figures. Lawmakers are examining records of payments and settlements, including a disputed agreement linked to an individual who alleged sexual assault by former President Donald Trump.
