Pam Bondi Returns to Trump Administration on White House AI Advisory Panel
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has appointed former Attorney General Pam Bondi to the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), placing the longtime loyalist back in a key policy role just weeks after removing her from the Justice Department.
According to Axios, Bondi will help coordinate between government officials and prominent technology executives serving on the council, which shapes administration policy on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The move comes as the White House navigates complex regulatory questions surrounding AI development and deployment.
PCAST operates under the joint leadership of David Sacks, a former White House AI adviser, and Michael Kratsios, the White House science adviser. Its members include Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.
Vice President JD Vance welcomed the appointment. “Pam has been an enormously valuable asset to the president’s team, and I’m thrilled for her and for all of us that she’s going to remain involved in confronting some of the most important issues the administration faces,” he said.
In addition to her PCAST role, Bondi will take on a newly created advisory position focused on national infrastructure. Details about that role remain limited.
The appointment arrives as Bondi recovers from thyroid cancer, which she was diagnosed with shortly after leaving the Justice Department. Sources say she has undergone treatment and is in recovery.
A staunch Trump ally for nearly a decade, Bondi endorsed him during the 2016 Republican primary and later served on his legal defense team during his first impeachment trial.
