Britain’s youngest parents: two children now raising a child
A 12-year-old girl from North London and her 13-year-old boyfriend have become Britain’s youngest recorded parents after the birth of their daughter. The couple met when she was 10. They have been together for more than a year and say they are committed to staying together and raising the child. Both families have publicly stood behind them. The girl’s own mother, 27, is now one of Britain’s youngest grandmothers. Relatives have described the situation as heartbreaking yet insist they will support the young pair.
School friends were unaware she was pregnant until shortly before the birth; she had continued attending classes. She has said she wants to return to school and continue her education.
