Charlie Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in the neck on September 10, 2025, during a Q&A at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University in Orem. He left behind his wife, Erika Frantzve, their two young children, and a grieving family.
The attack came as Kirk answered a question about mass shootings. His remarks were cut short by a single gunshot. Video showed him collapsing beneath a tent marked “The American Comeback.” Witnesses described chaos: students screamed, ducked, and rushed for exits. Authorities first detained a bystander, then determined the shooter fired from the roof of the Losee Center, about 200 yards away.
Questions quickly followed about security. There were no bag checks or screening at the open-air event, which drew thousands. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox condemned the killing and pledged accountability. Former President Donald Trump called Kirk “great, even legendary.” California Gov. Gavin Newsom also denounced the attack.
Kirk is remembered as a driven activist who built a large conservative youth movement. His death shocked the country and renewed debates over political violence and campus safety.
