Fact Check: Viral “Trump Shot Again” Videos Are Not Proof of a New Attack
As of now, no trustworthy news organization has reported that President Donald Trump has been shot at the White House, in Washington, D.C., or anywhere else in the last few minutes or today. Videos on YouTube and similar platforms can be posted by anyone. Sensational titles are often written to attract clicks. A title is not evidence unless it is backed by official reporting from outlets such as the Associated Press, Reuters, BBC, PBS, CBS, or The Washington Post.
Clips labeled along the lines of “President Donald Trump Shot AGAIN…” cannot be treated as confirmation of a new shooting. Those headlines are frequently misleading, recycled from older events, or fabricated.
What is actually verified
The only confirmed incident in which Trump was struck by gunfire remains July 13, 2024, at a campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. A gunman fired from a rooftop with an AR-style rifle. Chaos followed as shots rang out. The Secret Service killed the shooter at the scene. Trump was treated for a wound to his right ear and released from the hospital the same day. One spectator was killed and two others were wounded. That remains the only verified case in which Trump himself was shot.
Since then, other security incidents have been misrepresented online as proof that he was “shot again.” In September 2024, Secret Service agents fired on a man armed with a rifle who had been hiding near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump was on the course but unharmed; investigators said the suspect did not have a clear line of sight and did not fire at him. Later events in Washington, including a shooting near the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner and a May 2026 exchange of fire at a White House checkpoint, also did not result in Trump being shot. In those cases he was evacuated or already inside and uninjured, according to official accounts.
How to read viral claims
When a video title says a president has just been shot, check whether AP, Reuters, or another major wire or broadcast newsroom is reporting the same thing in real time. If they are not, treat the clip as unverified. Dramatic language on social media is not a substitute for corroboration. The Butler shooting is real and documented. Claims that Trump has been shot again today are not supported by those same standards.
