Iran-linked media has again directed explicit threats at the U.S. first family, this time in a propaganda video aimed at First Lady Melania Trump and ending with a warning to the couple’s youngest son, Barron.
The roughly two-minute clip was published by Tasnim News Agency, an outlet widely described as aligned with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It circulated under titles such as “Where to Kill Melania?!” and “How to Kill Melania Trump.” The production uses photographs and footage of the first lady in New York, including images associated with her motorcade and visits to well-known Manhattan shopping districts. Tasnim claimed the material came from “anonymous security networks” and satellite imagery; reporting on the video has said much of what appears on screen is publicly available information.
The narrator, speaking in Persian, frames Melania Trump’s public appearances and interest in fashion as a supposed vulnerability and calls on so-called “global freedom fighters” to target her. The video overlays graphics on street scenes and storefronts and presents her movements as an opportunity for an attack. It does not stop with the first lady. In the closing seconds the narrator says, “This is just the beginning. Barron Trump, wait for us.” Barron Trump is 20 and travels with a full-time Secret Service detail, as does the first lady.
U.S. officials treated the posting as a threat, not as commentary. A Secret Service spokesperson said the agency was aware of the video and investigates any perceived threat to its protectees, while declining to discuss protective measures. The East Wing did not immediately comment when the clip first circulated. Residences associated with the family — the White House, Trump Tower in New York, the Bedminster club in New Jersey, and Mar-a-Lago in Florida — remain under heavy security.
The video did not appear in isolation. In the days before it was posted, billboards in Tehran displayed images of President Donald Trump and members of his family, including Melania, Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Barron. One display used the slogan “Blood for blood.” Another showed mocked-up images of Melania, Barron, and Ivanka with their eyes closed and the word “KILLED” stamped across them, alongside the message “Hey, terrorist! Get ready to die.” Separate banners have carried variations of “We will kill Trump.” The campaign followed a sharp escalation between Washington and Tehran after a U.S.-Israel operation that Iranian officials say killed the regime’s supreme leader and other senior figures.
Melania Trump has kept a lower public profile during the latest round of threats. She did not attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner; a source close to her cited a scheduling conflict. President Trump has said he has long been on Iranian target lists and has answered the threats in public. After changing aircraft following a NATO-related trip, he told reporters that any successful attack would be met with a massive military response. “I’ve been on their list for a long time,” he said. “The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”
Tasnim was sanctioned by the United States in 2023 over its ties to the IRGC. Analysts who reviewed the latest clip have described it as psychological warfare: an effort to intimidate the first family and project resolve while Iran absorbs battlefield and leadership losses. Whether the video is treated as state-directed incitement or as propaganda from a Guard-linked outlet, U.S. protective agencies say they are treating the content as a live threat. The contrast is stark: a regime broadcasting assassination talk against a first lady and a 20-year-old student, and an American security apparatus whose job is to make sure those words never become an act.
