Bipartisan Push for Answers at Epstein’s New Mexico Ranch
A bipartisan group of New Mexico state lawmakers is calling for renewed scrutiny of Zorro Ranch, the remote 7,600-acre property once owned by Jeffrey Epstein. Located south of Santa Fe near Stanley, the sprawling estate has long been the subject of unanswered questions about Epstein’s activities before his death in federal custody in 2019.
Local officials and lawmakers have expressed frustration with what they describe as an incomplete federal investigation of the site. Critics argue that the FBI did not perform a sufficiently thorough search or forensic examination of the ranch following Epstein’s arrest. The newly proposed state inquiry aims to determine whether any potential evidence—such as records, materials, or other indicators of criminal activity—may have been overlooked. As of now, no publicly confirmed evidence of human remains or major suppressed materials has been found at the property.
The effort includes the creation of a bipartisan “Truth Commission” with subpoena power, tasked with investigating allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking, identifying individuals who may have visited or known about activities at the ranch, and examining why earlier probes were limited. New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez has also reopened the state’s investigation, citing newly released federal Epstein files. A search of the property began earlier this year.
At the same time, attention in Washington continues to focus on the financial architecture that enabled Epstein’s operations. Congressional committees, including the House Oversight Committee, are examining complex transactions and relationships involving high-profile individuals. Forensic accounting experts say tracing these money trails could reveal how Epstein sustained his network for decades.
Some public testimony and documents have referenced allegations involving prominent figures, including former President Donald Trump. However, legal analysts emphasize that these claims remain unproven in court and should be treated with caution. Many aspects of Epstein’s network continue to generate speculation, but investigators stress the importance of distinguishing verified facts from unconfirmed reports.
For victims and advocates, these renewed efforts represent a long-overdue push for transparency and accountability. Epstein’s case has exposed gaps in institutional oversight, from law enforcement to financial regulators. Whether the new investigations at Zorro Ranch or in Congress will yield significant new evidence remains uncertain.
