🚨 BREAKING: Charlie Kirk Fatally Shot at Utah College Event — Nationwide Investigation Now Underway.

OREM, Utah — Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on Sept. 10, 2025, while speaking at a student-sponsored outdoor event at Utah Valley University. The killing, which occurred shortly after noon, prompted a multi-agency investigation and a national reckoning over political violence.

Kirk was addressing attendees on campus when he was struck. The FBI later said the suspected gunman had taken a position on the rooftop of a nearby building overlooking the gathering. Kirk was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting turned the campus into a crime scene. Students, event attendees, and other witnesses fled or sought shelter as officers secured the area. Investigators began collecting evidence and reconstructing the sequence of events.

Federal, state, and local authorities launched a wide search for the suspect. A high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to have been used in the attack was recovered from a wooded area where the gunman was thought to have fled. On the rooftop, investigators collected footwear impressions, a palm print, and forearm impressions. The FBI asked the public for photographs, videos, and other information, and offered a reward of up to $100,000 for tips leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible.

About 33 hours after the shooting, authorities said a suspect had been taken into custody. FBI Director Kash Patel said investigators had received thousands of tips and that the inquiry would continue as officials worked to establish the full circumstances of the killing.

Kirk’s death drew immediate condemnation from political leaders across the spectrum and renewed debate over security at high-profile public events. As the founder of Turning Point USA, he had become one of the country’s most prominent conservative activists, especially among young Americans. He regularly appeared on college campuses for debates and discussions on free speech, elections, and other political issues.

The killing left his family and supporters in mourning and deeply affected the Utah Valley University community. What began as a campus discussion of political ideas ended in a deadly act of violence, leaving investigators still assembling the record and the country confronting the consequences of escalating tension around public political discourse.
